Vendor adjusts full-year outlook in light of Q2 results

HP said it performed strongly in all regions

HP has hailed its second-quarter financial results as “exceptional”, with double-digit growth reported across all regions.

The vendor’s Q2 net revenue rose by $3.5bn to $30.8bn year-on-year, and grew by 11 per cent in both America and EMEA, and by 19 per cent across Asia Pacific.

The company’s best-performing areas during Q2 were its networking division, which saw its revenues grow by 58 per cent year-on-year, and its enterprise storage and servers business whose revenues shot up by 31 per cent to $4.5bn.

HP’s software division fared less well, with revenue down one per cent on last year overall to $871m.

Mark Hurd, chairman of HP, said: "HP had an exceptional quarter with strong performance across every region.

“We are winning in the marketplace, investing for the future and confident in the enormous opportunity that lies ahead."

Cathie Lesjak, executive vice-president of HP, said: "HP drove double-digit revenue growth and improved profits, contributing to our twentieth consecutive quarter of year-over-year operating margin expansion.

"With the improving demand environment, we are accelerating investments for growth, while raising our full-year outlook."
