Selwyn gives cold comfort
Kent-based distributor Selwyn Electronics has introduced the Cool Snap range of heatsinks from US manufacturer Chipcoolers.
The products were designed jointly with Intel and, according to the distributor, are aimed at the latest generation of high-speed microprocessors.
Models are available for 486, 586, Pentium, Pentium Pro and AMD, Cyrix/IBM and Intel 6x86 microprocessors. They include finned heatsink and fan-assisted variations. They range in price from u2 to u5.
The products are simple to fit, and assembly consists of a heat-resistant mounting clip that slides over the edges of already installed CPUs.
One of Cool Snap's most unique features, according to Selwyn, is its interrupted internal thread in the clip, which prevents the assembly from working loose. Fan versions come with long-life ball bearing fans or low-noise sleeve bearing fans.
Selwyn is the product's UK distributor, largely for OEM deals, but the vendor is also looking for dealers to handle the range.
