VAR CBC wins multi-million deal with Stockport Council

Sheffield service provider comes top after "tough" tender process

CBC will supply laptops to Stockport as part of the £2.8m deal

Sheffield VAR CBC Computer Systems has won a £2.8m public tender to supply PCs and laptops to Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council.

Mark Goodwin, director at CBC, said he was delighted to announce the deal with the Greater Manchester-based council, which had come after a “tough” bid battle.

“This is a great win for CBC, particularly in such a quiet market and bearing in mind how hard it is to acquire public sector contracts in this environment,” Goodwin said.

CBC would aim to provide a quality, cost-effective blend of commodity IT hardware and services to the council.

According to the publictenders.net website, the deal was awarded to CBC primarily on price, with non-price issues given 40 per cent weight in the final decision. Seven other companies put in a bid for the same contract.

Goodwin said the Sheffield City Centre-based firm also has worked for emergency services, schools, other councils and the NHS.
