S&S dealers sign to McAfee

Anti-virus software vendor S&S International received another blow after its master reseller for 1995, London-based dealer Cellar Systems, signed up with McAfee two weeks ago.

Other dealers that have joined McAfee's master reseller programme include Stream, Computacenter, Phoenix and Software Box.

Mike Singer, MD for Cellar Systems, said: 'We're not worried about S&S' commitment to the channel because they don't have any. We're continually battling against their internal sales people and are never able to achieve a level playing field. We want to push the company that makes it easiest for us to deal with them.'

Mike Hill, product marketing director for S&S, defended the firm's channel policy. 'Our channel doesn't have to compete - we only go in at a high level. McAfee is just trying to spread fear and doubt because of our hold on the UK market.' Under the terms of the master reseller programme dealers gain access to preferential discounts, up to 25 per cent rather than 15 per cent.
