Exterity hotel bundle to boost resellers' margin
Vendor claims that many hotels are looking for a new way to source their TV systems
IPTV networking vendor Exterity has claimed a new vertical is emerging as a growth market for IPTV and is gearing up to launch a bundle tailored specifically for this market to help its resellers boost margin.
Colin Farquhar, chief executive of Exterity, told CRN: “Over the past six months we have seen our partners come to us with an increasing number of hotel projects. Traditionally, the hospitality industry has been dominated by service providers, but there is an increasing number of hotels that are looking to source their TV systems in a different way. They want their TV, internet and telephony services all rolled into one package and they are beginning to approach resellers and integrators.
“It is a huge untapped area for resellers and integrators. To assist our partners in making the most of this opportunity we are going to launch a hospitality technology bundle.”
The Exterity Hotel IPTV Kit will be a package of products and technology that will enable resellers to offer an all in one IPTV solution to hotels, Farquhar said.
He added that Exterity’s door is still open for more partners.
“We have got about 25 UK partners,” Farquhar said. “The majority of these are audiovisual resellers and integrators, so I would like to attract some IT VARs. Our main markets are still corporate and education, but the transition by hotels towards IPTV is increasing.”
Edward Cook, chief executive of Exterity partner Audio Visual Machines, said: “I think a hotel IPTV bundle would be a very good idea, although we don’t have any hotel clients at the moment. A hotel bundle would help with the sales process in that it would turn a technology sale into a solution sale, which is always better received by the clients.”
Rob Bamforth, principal analyst at Quocirca, said: “Having an IPTV package that allows hotels to control and adapt it to suit their needs has got to be a good thing.”
