STOCKWATCH - Cap Gemini
Cap Gemini almost doubled its first-half profit as European mergers gave rise to increased systems integrations. Profit for the six months ended 30 June was F874 million compared with F454 million a year ago. Revenue for the first half of the year increased 16 per cent to F14.4 billion. The company reduced its full-year sales forecast to F30 billion.
Yahoo
Yahoo reported an increased loss of $15.1 million for its second quarter ended 30 June, compared with a loss of $14.2 million in same quarter last year. The loss was blamed on charges imposed by the company's acquisitions of Geocities, Online Anywhere and Encompass, amounting to $56.13 million.
Infineon
Infineon, Siemens' semiconductor division, is expected to break even ahead of its planned dual listing. The company posted a loss of DM1.2 billion last year and also lost DM104 million in the first half of this year, but is cautiously optimistic about the year-end results. Infineon is expected to be valued at between DM15 billion and DM20 billion when it floats in Germany and the US in October.
Computer Horizons
Computer Horizons is expecting its second-quarter earnings to be below city expectations due to a larger slowdown in the market than expected. Analysts had predicted the consultancy would post earnings of about 31 cents a share, but it is now expected to be between 23 and 25 cents per share.
