DNS Arrow hires SurfControl boss
Distributor recruits SurfControl's former UK country manager to head its security division
Distributor DNS Arrow has vowed to sharpen its focus on security
after recruiting SurfControl’s former UK country manager to head its security division.
James Pattinson, who left SurfControl following its recent acquisition by Websense, assumed his post as security sales director at the distributor on 1 November. He replaces Andrew Beaumont, who resigned last month.
Steve Pearce, managing director of DNS Arrow, said: “Strong sales and key account management skills were a pre-requisite for the role. It was fortunate that someone with these attributes popped up at the right time and our team will benefit from James’s guidance.”
Pattinson added: “I understand how vendors work and I am able
to translate that into distribution terms to meet vendors’ goals and expectations.”
Pearce claimed that Pattinson’s appointment would strengthen its relationship with Websense, one of five core security vendors for DNS Arrow, alongside Check Point, Nokia, Blue Coat and Symantec.
“Our SurfControl business went from zero to something really substantial within 18 months. James was fundamental in bringing that business to us and is now willing to join us. However, he left Websense on good terms,” Pearce said.
Pearce admitted DNS Arrow had held its own in the security market during the past 12 months, but now wanted to resume growth.
Ray Ottey, security partner manager at security VAR Netstore, said: “James brings some good industry knowledge to DNS Arrow and it will certainly be a well-received appointment from Netstore’s perspective.
