Computacenter part-funds iPad trial at law firm
Corporate reseller helps Eversheds roll out Apple's new device
A bite of Apple: Computacenter is helping to fund the Eversheds trial
Computacenter claims it is at the forefront of corporate adoption of the iPad after signing a deal to trial Apple’s new device at legal firm Eversheds.
Eversheds is collaborating with the corporate reseller and vendor Citrix to explore how the introduction of Apple’s new device can help its lawyers work more flexibly.
Each of the three firms is paying an equal financial contribution towards the pilot, which is set for completion in August. If successful, all the firm’s lawyers may move on to Apple iPads.
Although the iPad has dominated recent tech press headlines, a recent CRN poll revealed resellers are unsure as to whether corporates will adopt the technology. 54 per cent branded it a "business-only opportunity" , while just 17 per cent believed it will be a big b-to-b seller.
Andy Goddard, Practice Leader Computacenter workplace business said: “This is a groundbreaking project that all three parties are engaged in and we are fortunate to be at the leading edge of the iPad’s adoption into corporate IT.”
Eversheds said the initiative would allow its lawyers to review documents, host virtual meetings, arrange schedules and access mail and business intelligence remotely.
Paul Caris, chief information officer at Eversheds, said: “The iPad is an incredibly intuitive device which will be popular with our lawyers. With Citrix technology we expect to deliver key applications to lawyers including email, document management and client relationship management systems whenever and wherever they need to.
“We have already made an investment in the Citrix platform so we will be able to deliver our applications on to mobile devices very quickly.”
