Promethean opens doors to its channel academy
The vendor is keen to share its specialised knowledge of the education sector with latest initiative
Paul Dean: Promethean has extensive knowledge of the education sector.
Audiovisual (AV) vendor Promethean is embarking on the next stage of its 100 per cent indirect strategy with the launch of a reseller training scheme.
The channel academy is part of Activpartner, its reseller partner programme. The academy’s purpose is to pass on Promethean’s knowledge of the education market, said Paul Dean, Promethean’s director of partner management.
“We have worked exclusively in education, and we will pass on our hard-earned knowledge,” he said.
He argued that education is a niche market and the channel academy will provide a vital service. “It is important to practise what you preach, so the delivery of the training will be interactive. “It is more than learning about the technology. It is about participation,” he said.
Selling AV to the education sector involves more than promoting a product, said Darren Clayman, head of the AV division of reseller Information and Data Network (IDN). “It is about providing expertise and experience.
“It is rare for a manufacturer to offer training that encourages resellers to ask questions, so I welcome the channel academy.”
