Symbios sale

Hyundai has sold Symbios, its US non-memory chip subsidiary, to Adaptec.

The South Korean conglomerate hopes the $775 million deal will ease its financial worries. Symbios, bought by Hyundai in 1995 from AT&T for $340 million, made a net profit of $69 million on sales of $620 million in 1997.
