Network Box appoints new managing director

Simon Heron to grow the firm's share of the UTM market

Managed security specialist Network Box is looking to get closer to the channel in 2007 following the appointment of Simon Heron as its UK managing director.

Heron, who was technical director at the company, is tasked with growing Network Box’s share of the Unified Threat Management market and expanding its channel base.

Speaking to CRN, Heron said: “VARs are expected to provide every part of a solution for their customers. Often the problem is hanging onto skilled security engineers, who are thin on the ground. Our offering helps fill that space in their portfolio.”

He added that the firm has eight UK partners, but is looking to add to that number as it gradually moves towards phasing out its direct sales.

“Although VARs don’t always see a huge immediate return on our product, we guarantee recurring revenue streams for our partners,” he said.
