Remote XT wants mobility VARs
Vendor wants resellers to ship its offering into the SME space
Vendor Remote XT is looking for mobility resellers to ship its offering into the SME space.
The vendor’s mobile platform provides set-up and configuration of email and PC desktop functions on mobile phones, alongside a lock, wipe and restore security function and anti-virus on mobile phones and PDAs. It is aimed at businesses with one to 250 employees.
Mark Whiteman, managing director of Remote XT, told CRN: “End-users and VARs struggle to get smart- phones and PDAs to do what they are supposed to do. The initial set-up and the fact that end-users might lose their devices are big issues for resellers.”
Whiteman added that using Remote XT’s mobile platform will allow resellers to sell a mobile device and be confident it will be set up for end-users. But if end-users lose, change or have their phone stolen, their data will be safe, he said.
“We work directly with VARs and we are building a channel,” he said. “We have 15 VARs and we want no more than 50 mobility resellers. We hope to achieve this by mid 2007.”
Keith Humphreys, managing consultant at research firm EuroLAN, said: “There is a market for Remote XT’s offering among corporates, but it might be better going through security VARs, rather than mobility resellers.”
