Check Point unveils new UK head

VAR 2e2's divisional director of security and consulting, Terry Greer-King, steps up to the mark

Terry Greer-King: Check Point's partners have a friend, ally and someone who understands the channel

Check Point has poached 2e2’s divisional director, Terry Greer-King to head up its UK and Ireland business.

Greer-King, who also worked at Netstore before it was acquired by 2e2 in 2008, steps into the role after former incumbent Nick Lowe was promoted to head of Western Europe sales earlier this year.

Speaking exclusively to CRN, Greer-King said: “2e2 is a great organisation and is making great progress, but the Check Point opportunity was presented to me.

“Check Point is a company of a certain size – just shy of $1bn and we want to get to $2bn – but that means we have to develop different models and different solutions to market.”

He said his channel background should also help Check Point’s resellers feel confident.

“In vendor land they tend to think about value plus revenue and market share, whereas resellers and integrators are more interested in profit and revenue, and also service attach," he said. "Because I can understand both sides, it gives me a different perspective.”

Greer-King said his first task was to visit the partner community and also touch the large end-user base to formally introduce himself.

“It is a very exciting time," he said. "I was very happy at 2e2 and would not have moved easily, but this is a cerebral challenge where I can draw on my experience.

“I will be meeting people that I already know, but the relationships will be different now. I hope that the partner community will welcome my appointment, knowing they have a friend and ally, and someone that understands the channel.”
