Trio of display, TV signings for Midwich
AV distributor expands display and TV portfolio with three new agreements
Hartigan: Midwich has the skills
Midwich has signed three new distribution agreements – for set-top boxes, professional-grade desktop displays and for a British-made range of LCD TVs.
The British TV range is from Cello Electronics, which has been around since 2001.
Lee Baker, business manager for displays at Midwich, said in a statement that Cello was growing fast and had a strong portfolio of consumer products.
“Over the past few years, we have developed a new channel for consumer products. This deal with Cello Electronics gives our customers another value option for vertical markets such as education,” Baker said.
The distributor has also added Sagemcom for its digital terrestrial and IP TV set-top boxes.
“Freeview HD will cover around 50 per cent of the country by the time the World Cup kicks off in June,” Baker said.
Midwich also extended its distribution deal with NEC Display Solutions, which focuses on professional-grade commercial displays, to cover desktop monitors.
The distributor said it will focus on high-end desktop displays from the 90 series, which targets corporate users, and the 'environmentally friendly' PA-series.
Baker said that NEC wanted a specialist distributor to focus on its small-format products. “We are confident we can deliver incremental business. We now stock the full range of NEC products,” he said.
Neil Hartigan, channel director at NEC Display Solutions, said Midwich provided excellent value-added services and display expertise.
