VMware opens up Zimbra portfolio to partners

Virtualisation giant confirms partners can now sell open-source vendor's wares

Open sesame: VMWare wants partners to unlock the potential of Zimbra's open source portfolio

Virtualisation giant VMware has opened up Zimbra’s product portfolio to its channel partners, following its acquisition of the open-source specialist earlier this year.

The move marks the end of the integration process between the two firms, which began in February when VMware confirmed the completion of its deal to acquire the company.

The announcement means the firm’s 25,000-strong worldwide partner base can now include Zimbra’s email, calendar and collaboration product suite in their go-to-market strategies.

Partners will also be able to bundle the products with complementary elements of VMware’s product range, such as thevSphere virtualisation platform, explained Zimbra's general manager Jim Morrisroe.

“We are excited about the opportunity to provide VMware customers worldwide with Zimbra’s solution[s] paired with VMware’s virtualisation platform,” he added.
