Trend looks for growth when Peapod goes pop
Trend Micro is expecting its UK distributor Peapod Internet to more than its double sales figures by the end of next year, following the consolidation of its US operation.
The antivirus software vendor, which recently shifted responsibility for Europe from Taiwan to its Californian head office, is anticipating an increase in UK sales from #1 million to #2.5 million.
Pat Bitton, director of marketing at Trend Micro, said a recent surge of interest in the vendor's products was the motivation behind the decision to double the targets for its sales and channel partners.
Bitton added: 'I think that Peapod has the will and the organisation to work with a traditional infrastructure.'
Chris Durnan, managing director of Peapod Internet, said: 'The change in the US office means that Trend will make sure we reach #2.5 million as well as making a commitment to the channel.'
Durnan said Peapod was also hoping to double the number of its Vars to 50. 'This number will include about 10 strategic partners which will be selling everything - a company like Computacenter for example.'
Although Peapod is the main distributor for Trend in the UK, Bitton insisted: 'We wouldn't exclude the possibility of signing up with other distributors.
We have no specific plans, but we are open to offers.'
Trend Micro has been working with Peapod Internet for nearly a year and a half.
