Our initial markets will be education, local authorities and engineering companies, but we will also be targeting the SME sector, which wants email as more companies use the internet to get to market.'

Gary Phillips, marketing director of MCS, said: 'We are one of the first companies to sell email via the channel. We can go head-to-head with the big vendors. But we are not asking people to throw out Microsoft Outlook or Lotus. Our products are designed to be complimentary and because they are all Java applications, they are fully compliant with all platforms.'

Upminster company CMS Software will supply MCS' Calypso range of specialist email products, which offer facilities such as spam filtering, high-speed email for mobile users and message centering, that allows organisations to filter and manage high volumes of email traffic.
