BT scraps IT Manager product and services

Telecoms giant is "working with" affected staff - the majority of whom are believed to be BT Engage IT employees

BT has withdrawn its small and mid-market IT Manager hardware product and the related IT Site Manager services from the UK market.

Although details were sketchy as this article went to press, CRN understands that a number of staff from BT Engage IT’s Letchworth office (originally the headquarters of VAR Basilica) have been affected by the move, but the telecoms giant is keeping the details of exactly how they will be affected close to its chest.

The firm was quick to stress that it will continue to honour existing contracts through BT Engage IT’s Barlborough-based team.

In a statement to CRN, a BT representative said: “We regularly review our organisation to ensure we are efficiently organised to deliver the best results to our customers.

“This has resulted in a decision to withdraw IT Manager hardware, installation and IT Site Manager from the market as of 5 January.

“All existing IT Site Manager contracts will continue to be supported by the BT Engage IT support team located at Barlborough – this will be business as usual.”

The statement concluded: “We are advising all staff of this and working with those affected to ensure that they are treated appropriately.”
