Blue Chip solves Hampshire fire service's compliance headache

VAR cuts down server numbers and strenthens business continuity strategy

Hampshire Fire and Rescue has hooked up with Blue Chip

Blue Chip has completed an installation with Hampshire Fire and Rescue Services to help the organisation meet its "business continuity" compliance requirements.

The VAR implemented VMware’s vSphere4 server virtualisation offering to enable the fire service to move, manage, store and restore its critical data and servers, and also consolidate the number of servers from eight to two.

Neil Moore, head of ICT at Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: “I am delighted that we have been able to take a significant step towards meeting two of our corporate aims, reducing both our carbon footprint and energy consumption in partnership with Blue Chip.

“Blue Chip demonstrated a clear understanding of our business requirements and their open approach meant that we were able to work together to refine the virtualisation solution to maximum effect,” he said.
