VAR opens regional headquarters to support £74m Welsh public sector broadband deal

Land of our fathers: Logicalis has crossed the River Severn and set up a regional HQ near Cardiff

Integrator Logicalis has opened a regional headquarters in Wales after winning a £74m Welsh public sector broadband deal.

The new facility is set to employ more than 30 staff and will house the nationwide operational support centre for Wales’ ambitious Public Sector Broadband Aggregation (PSBA) project.

PSBA was launched in late 2007 to connect public sector workers in the NHS, further education establishments and local authorities.

Logicalis has bagged a seven-year, £74m deal to run PSBA, but the Welsh facility has a wider remit and is being billed as a National Centre of Excellence for Public Sector Services.

Tom Kelly, Logicalis’ UK managing director, said PSBA is a “flagship example” of public and private sector collaboration in Wales.

“We are very excited at the opportunities we see here in Wales, especially in the public sector, where Wales is taking a UK lead in next-generation public services through projects such as PSBA,” he said.

“The eco-system of the project has unlimited possibilities for the organisations it seeks to support, as well as the prospect to grow and evolve, thereby creating more demand for a skilled workforce.
