Compaq enlists QA for training

Partnership to provide 'more flexible' training courses for Compaq partners

Compaq has teamed up with IT training and consulting specialist QA to provide what it claims to be more flexible training courses for its partners.

Compaq's new ASE certification training programme has been split into five days of hands-on lab training and seven days of online and computer-based theoretical work. The original course was spread over 12 days.

Although staff still have to complete both stages of training, firms can better manage the time that employees are out the office for training purposes, explained a QA representative.

Laurence Fish, technical training manager with Compaq's partner marketing group, believes that blended learning is key to future training programmes: "Compaq's Integrated Learning Programme (ILP) overcomes the concerns of many companies which are facing the prospect of introducing budget and travel restrictions.

"Time out of the office for delegates has become increasingly significant but employers know that their staff must continue to be trained to sell, support and develop businesses at a technical level."

"This blend of hands-on and theoretical training provides an ideal mix through which companies, their clients and employees will gain maximum benefit. The hybrid approach reduces costs, provides greater flexibility for those seeking accreditation and maintains the highest quality standards," Fish claimed.

Courses are set to run from the beginning of December.
