HP and Dell continue tug of war for 3Par
Hardware vendors' bidding match shows no signs of abating
Seconds out: HP and Dell battle on for 3Par
HP has kicked Dell’s attempt to match its $1.8bn bid for 3Par into touch by offering to pay $2bn for the storage vendor.
Over the past five days the two hardware vendors have been embroiled in a bidding war for the storage vendor.
Yesterday, Dell announced that it had matched HP’s earlier bid of $1.6bn (£1bn) for the firm and that its revised offer had been accepted by 3Par’s board.
HP reacted by upping its offer to $1.8bn, which Dell subsequently agreed to match once more.
In response, HP has now agreed to part with $2bn in exchange for 3Par's assets, which include its cloud-enabling product portfolio.
