Resellers to target IWBs for police
Barriers to police take-up of SMART Whiteboards to be addressed
UK police forces are benefiting from using interactive whiteboards (IWBs), but common failings in integration and purchasing are inhibiting wider-scale adoption of the technology, research from Steljes has revealed.
Conducted by AIMTech, Leeds University Business School's research group, the study focused on IWBs from vendor Smart Technologies.
The report found that boards increased participation in routine police briefing; however, the purchasing and adoption of the technology was an area for concern. The report recommended a centrally driven adoption and acquisition strategy.
Malcolm Stewart, public sector business manager at Steljes, told CRN: "We want to grow our SMART business in non-education markets. This research has provided us with a clearer picture of how SMART Boards can benefit modern-day policing."
Colin Messenger, senior consultant at analyst Decision Tree Consulting, said: "The way the police would use an IWB is not dissimilar to a teacher, so it is definitely a market that resellers should look at targeting."
