IBM reseller sets up portal for council

Premier partner flies flag for public sector push with council implementation

IBM Premier partner OpenLogic is flying the flag for Big Blue's public sector push with an implementation at Oxfordshire County Council.

The VAR won the contract, for an undisclosed amount. It was asked to set up a portal using WebSphere technology to keep the council in line with the e-government agenda.

"We specialise in WebSphere and portal implementations and worked closely with IBM on this engagement," said Craig Smith, managing director of OpenLogic.

"The solution, which runs on DB2 or Linux, will allow the council to bring citizens and employees together over the net. We are already working with other councils for similar implementations.

"The e-government agenda is about integrating information and systems."

Jeremy Wray, business development executive, public sector, IBM Software Group, said: "Councils and local governments are having to adopt our kind of platforms to achieve e-government guidelines.

"We need the channel to implement the solutions. Once we find good partners, such as OpenLogic, we will continue to involve them in other contracts."
