CSG adds to its software acquisitions
Developer buys JBS Computer Services for £1.9m in cash and shares
Aggressive software developer Computer Software Group (CSG) has made its fourth acquisition in less than a year.
The firm acquired IBM iSeries software firm JBS Computer Services for £1.9m in cash and shares. JBS distributes and manufactures software for the SME sector, and CSG hopes the move will help it gain a bigger share of the iSeries market.
Vin Murria, chief executive of CSG, said: "IBM's iSeries solutions generate 10 per cent of IBM's profit.
"It is a good area to get into because it is very specialised. With this acquisition we can offer a compelling value proposition to iSeries users."
Murria told CRN the firm was still on the acquisition path, after buying software vendors Chorus, WIZZ400 and Springstone in the past year.
"We want to make other acquisitions to help us gain further market share," she said.
Murria added that although the firm sells mostly direct, it is looking to increase its channel partner base, and even acquire specialist VARs.
Colin Wells, chairman of JBS, said: "Joining CSG presents us with a real opportunity to move into a broader market."
