Capellas joins Cisco
Former MCI and Compaq chief becomes board member
Networking giant Cisco has appointed former MCI chief executive Michael Capellas to its board of directors.
Capellas joined MCI, which was acquired by Verizon Communications in February 2005, as chief executive in 2002, but left the telco last month. Previously Capellas was chief executive at Compaq before it was merged with Hewlett-Packard.
John Morgridge, chairman at Cisco, said: "Michael is a seasoned general manager and a 30-year veteran of the information technology business. With his customer-centric focus and unique balance of strategic insight, operational expertise and technology and financial knowledge, Michael is a strong asset to Cisco's board."
