Nintendo 64 snubs the Autumn ECTS
Retailers looking forward to THE's European debut for Nintendo 64 at Autumn ECTS will be sorely disappointed. The exclusive Nintendo distributor won't be there.
After lengthy negotiations THE has turned down a stand. "The heavy investment outlay at ECTS is the main reason," said Alexander Fitzgibbon, marketing manager at THE. "Besides we saw 80% of our key retailers at E3."
"They were never booked in," said event manager Minnie McBride. "And we're still talking to them about doing something for the show."
According to Fitzgibbon the 64bit console may feature as part of the Nintendo Challenger mobile demonstration unit at Live 96, Earls Court 25 - 29 September. Spring 1997 is the earliest UK unofficial release date for Nintendo 64.
