Info' Products in restructure

Info' Products has reorganised along product lines in a move away from its former vendor-focused operation.

The company is also understood to be hunting for a dealer to buy over the next 12 months, in a bid to take on SCC and Computacenter as one of the top three resellers in the UK.

Info' Products UK had a turnover of u125 million last year, earning it seventh place in the PC Europa ranking of the UK's 30 biggest dealers.

As part of the restructure, the Dutch-owned reseller has formed a 19-strong product management division. It is also rejigging the sales division over the next year to form business units that focus on vertical markets rather than regional accounts. The vertical sectors are expected to include finance, retail, petrochemicals and local government.

Mike Boreham, who heads the product management division, said the old structure had proved unsatisfactory. 'We were starting to do the work of a vendor account manager which we didn't want,' he said.

We also wanted to track technologies better. How else do you know when your major manufacturers change? We hope that the restructure will build up a matrix of vertically aligned vendors.'

The six product sets within the product management group include networking, Internet/intranet, servers and mobile computing.
