COLT flies into vCloud

Carrier joins VMware's vCloud initiative to strengthen its virtual offering

Linking services: COLT joined the vCloud initiative to strengthen its bond with VMware

European carrier COLT has become a fully fledged member of the VMware vCloud initiative.

Under the initiative, VMware works with cloud providers to deliver enterprise-ready service without locking in the customer. This enables partners to offer their customers flexibility and choice, regardless of hardware, operating system or applications.

COLT has previously implemented VMware solutions for its customers, but chose to strengthen its cloud offering by joining the vCloud initiative.

Maggy McClelland, managing director of COLT Managed Services, said: “We are delighted to announce our membership in the VMware vCloud initiative. Our ongoing relationship with VMware is key to giving our customers even more confidence in the quality, flexibility and security of our enterprise cloud services.

“We have already delivered many successful VMware-based solutions to our customers, and providing a migration path to our cloud-based services via VMware vCloud will give them even greater business benefits.”

Dan Chu, vice president of emerging business at VMware, said: “As an increasing number of businesses turn toward VMware-based cloud solutions to enable fast, reliable and flexible infrastructure, it is crucial that they can rely on providers such as COLT for a secure, robust and agile platform.

“We are delighted that COLT and its customers can now take advantage of the business benefits that membership in the VMware vCloud initiative will bring.”
