Toshiba unveils TOPS team

Firm spent thousands developing channel centric sales team

Toshiba’s Computer Systems Division has invested hundreds of thousands of pounds in a dedicated Channel Development Team to offer help to resellers in the SME sector.

The firm, which earlier this year launched its TOPS scheme (Toshiba, Offers, Promotions, Specials) to help VARs double margin on PC sales (CRN, 27 June), has set up the team to offer partners an account manager to provide telephone support across Toshiba’s range of business products.

Neil Bramley, head of business channels, UK and Ireland at Toshiba, said: “Our TOPS programme has had a positive response from the channel and we intend to invest more in it. This new team will help us build more of a relationship with the channel and communicate directly with resellers. It is about being proactive and understanding the needs of partners.”

Bramley said the vendor’s distribution partners had also welcomed the creation of the team.

Darren Lewitt, audiovisual business manager at Midwich, said the initiative was already paying dividends.

“I can see bigger things happening moving forward into the new year and I can certainly see us benefiting from this new team. We work with Toshiba on three fronts – notebooks, projectors and home entertainment and all three are doing very well for us.

“We are the only Toshiba distributor that is in a position to sell both notebooks and projectors and we are working with them to offer more creative product bundles.”
