D-Link launches accreditation programme

Connectivity specialist aims to tighten reseller ties

Networking vendor D-Link is launching a structured reseller accreditation programme. The Taiwanese maker of connectivity and data communications products sells in the UK solely through the channel.

This month it is launching its D-Link National Partner reseller accreditation scheme with four road shows targeted at resellers.

Dion Luyk, general manager for UK, Ireland and Benelux, said: "This is our first structured partner programme. We are trying to work more closely with our reseller partners."

Darren Perks, networking divisions account manager at distribution partner Enta Technologies, said: "The new accreditation programme is well timed. Resellers need additional support with its new products such as Voice-over-IP equipment."

The company, which is expecting turnover of £114m in the first quarter of 2001, is also in partnership with distributors Ingram Micro and Micro Peripherals, and recently signed Interface Solutions to take its products to more corporate resellers.

"We feel that the appointment of Interface Solutions will complement existing partners by broadening our exposure in the channel and will increase our market share," Luyk said.

He added that the company wants to develop its channel gradually to ensure it can meet its support obligations. "We want to start with only 15 to 20 strategic partners. This will allow us to focus on larger resellers," he explained.

The company is offering telephone and online technical support, training and accreditation, as well as help with installations. "We are flexible and very responsive. We are a small organisation in the UK and decisions can be made at the top level within minutes," claimed Luyk.

D-Link's four UK road shows will be staged in Harrogate, Falkirk, Birmingham and London from 16 to 23 May.
