Boomcomms makes UK din
Vendor claims its proprietary SMS software is groundbreaking and a potential boon for resellers
Tanner: it is rare to be the first into market
Database management vendor Boomcomms and UK distributor Cohort are urging VARs to cash in on the untapped possibilities of SMS.
Boomcomms produces the Boomerang suite of products, which enables firms to automate the sending and receiving of text messages.
The vendor signed up security and IP telephony specialist Cohort as its exclusive UK distributor earlier this month. Boomcomms is also working with Microsoft to tap into the software giant’s Dynamics CRM partner base and has already signed up about seven resellers through this.
Peter Tanner, managing director of Boomcomms, claimed big deals with the banking industry and public sector are in the offing. “We are doing something groundbreaking and potentially global,” he said.
“We have proprietary software - nobody else is doing this. It is rare to be the first into the market and this is an incredible opportunity for resellers.”
Tanner indicated that VARs could make margins upwards of 25 per cent on product, plus 10 per cent on each SMS. He added that sales and technical support, and lead generation, would be provided.
Grahame Smee, managing director of Cohort, said the Boomerang suite would prove popular with his firm’s IP telephony resellers, but added: “It is not limited to those guys. We have not really scratched the surface of what we can do with SMS. It is a technology that can be sold in a variety of applications.”
