UUnet Pipex to connect SMEs

UUnet Pipex has launched an Internet access product called PipeXchange, aimed at giving SMEs with small local area networks an ?affordable connection to the Internet?.

Corporate communications manager Richard Woods said: ?Novell dealers in particular are looking for a product in the lower price bracket, with bandwidth their customers can scale up on demand.?

PipeXchange includes a licence for 20 users, email and Web facilities, for an annual fee of about #1,000, including setup. Team Uunet Pipex pays dealers a 7.5 per cent referral fee for each installation.

The product is the first in a new sector for Uunet Pipex, which already claims an installed base of 17,000 firms with single dial-up accounts through its direct sales Pipex Dial operation.
