Backup Technology doubles partner base

Vendor claims it is 'on track' since launching partner programme in July

Ritchie Fiddes: There is plenty of scope for more resellers

Online backup vendor Backup Technology has almost doubled its reseller base since it announced a new partner programme in July.

The vendor claims it is on track to meet its target number of partners by January 2009, due to the increasing popularity of backing up data online.

Ritchie Fiddes, sales director at Backup Technology, said: “Although we have grown our reseller base by nearly 50 per cent already, there is plenty of scope for other VARs to come on board because the market for online backup is growing rapidly as companies start to realise the many benefits it can offer.

“Companies across the country are realising the inherent security and cost benefits that web-based back-up brings, and in partnering with Backup Technology, resellers can make the most of this.”

Backup Technology hosts managed files and charges a monthly fee, to provide a failsafe system that supports business continuity and disaster recovery.

Mike Shingler, managing director of reseller Care Micro, said: “We were finding that around 40 per cent of our telephone technical support calls were backup problems, (both tape and software).

“By converting a number of our customers to online backup through Backup Technology, the number of calls has reduced, with the resultant saving in time, and frustration for both Care Micro and our customers.”

Anil Pachnanda, a director at Qualitas IT, said: “Backup Technology’s solution is great for Compliance and Information Security Officers to meet the different regulations imposed by governing bodies around the globe.

“It also allows companies to reduce their business continuity costs by removing the need to have their systems replicated to another physical site.”
