Synaxon adds Ingram to UK fold
Germany-based buying group selects Ingram as sole UK broadline distributor
Jones: partnering with Ingram ensures Synaxon's reseller members can find all the products they need through EGIS
German buying group Synaxon has signed Ingram Micro as its sole UK broadliner, giving its membership base access to the distributor’s full range.
Joining a growing list of distributors working with the group, Ingram will provide resellers with access to up-to-date inventory and pricing information via Synaxon’s online Enterprise Global Information System (EGIS).
Synaxon formalised ties with 12 other distributors last year as it prepared to go live in the UK. Westcoast and Enta, storage player CMS Peripherals and audiovisual specialist Median were among those to get on board in December.
Julian Thompson, sales director at Ingram Micro UK, said: “We are looking forward to working with Synaxon to further develop and enhance the flexibility and value that the service delivers to our customers.”
Derek Jones, managing director of Synaxon UK, said: “Having access to Ingram’s comprehensive portfolio of leading products and its extensive stock-holding and delivery services gives our reseller members further flexibility and choice, and ensures that they can find all the products and solutions they need through EGIS.”
Jones said Synaxon UK has already signed agreements with 14 other distributors and is currently finalising partnerships with a further five.
“Having budgeted for 20 distribution partners in 2009, we will not be opening up any new distributor negotiations until Q4 this year.
“We now have most of the agreements we need in place and the first phase of our plans are starting to deliver new business opportunities to both our member and supplier partners.”
