SCC eyes services boom with Brocade

Integrator looks to bolster network services headcount after strengthening partnership with networking and storage vendor

Amanda Giddins: This relationship is fundamental for our overall UK channel strategy

SCC is investing in its network services division after signing up with vendor Brocade as a UK Systems Integrator (SI) partner.

The integrator recently became the vendor’s second SI partner, after Computacenter. Alan Ryan, head of networking business development at SCC, said the customer demand for cloud-based technologies and datacentre consolidation had prompted the partnership.

“It is very clear that cloud computing is accelerating,” he said. “In our customer base we are seeing consolidation of multiple [datacentre] vendors into one. Brocade is one of the few providers that has the [requisite] breadth of knowledge and history.”

Ryan added that services provision around the datacentre will become a key focus for SCC’s networking arm. Investments will be made in increasing headcount, he revealed.

“The network services division is growing quickly,” he said. “People need that consultancy service.”

Amanda Giddins, Brocade’s EMEA channel director, said: “This relationship is fundamental for our overall UK channel strategy. The SIs provide us with a great opportunity to increase our visibility.”
