Probrand unveils security device division
Government plans to slap £500,000 fines on public-sector bodies over data breaches prompts launch of Probrand specialist department
Securing data: Probrand hopes to help both private and public sector firms with their device security
VAR Probrand is capitalising on the spate of data breaches through lost storage devices, by launching its own specialist device security division.
This is hot on the heels of government plans to fine firms – particularly public sector bodies – up to £500,000 for data loss and mobile storage device security blunders.
According to research carried out by Probrand, a whopping 90 per cent of its customers said they were aware of the government plans to mandate fields relating to data loss, but many of them acknowledged a need for further guidance on mobile storage device security.
Probrand’s new department aims to help the public sector tackle this issue with free guidance, support and special "approved" deals for public sector professionals looking for clarity in this space.
Richard Hunter-Rice, sales manager at Probrand, said: “There appears to be different approaches by different authorities and our specialist service will help deliver guidance. It will support both public and private sectors in the search for appropriate mobile storage devices.
“We are here to help with a new specialist team that can impartially deliver end-to-end advice to help buying professionals buy-right first time. That means robust, compatible and highly encrypted user friendly devices. It is common knowledge that data loss is not acceptable and we can offer a consistent credible approach to the mobile storage device security challenge," he added.
