VAR Probrand is capitalising on the spate of data breaches through lost storage devices, by launching its own specialist device security division.

This is hot on the heels of government plans to fine firms – particularly public sector bodies – up to £500,000 for data loss and mobile storage device security blunders.

According to research carried out by Probrand, a whopping 90 per cent of its customers said they were aware of the government plans to mandate fields relating to data loss, but many of them acknowledged a need for further guidance on mobile storage device security.

Probrand’s new department aims to help the public sector tackle this issue with free guidance, support and special "approved" deals for public sector professionals looking for clarity in this space.
