StarTech signs Ingram Micro as third UK distributor

PC components vendor looking to boost its market share

PC components vendor StarTech.com is looking to boost its market share by signing Ingram Micro as its third UK distributor.

The Canadian vendor, which manufactures hard-to-find computer parts, server management and audio/video products, also works with Enta Technology and Westcoast in the UK.

Xiomara Carrillo, UK country manager at StarTech.com, told CRN there would be no channel conflict among its distributors.

“We have three very close distribution partners now and have a very healthy relationship with both Enta and Westcoast,” she said.

“Ingram is a broadliner and is different to our other two partners. We are confident that the relationship will bring mutual benefits to both companies. It will make our products available to even more VARs and system builders in the UK market.”

Carrillo said Ingram will stock between 400 and 500 StarTech products initially.

“Being a Canadian company, our main market is north America and when we researched the UK market, we realised that many of the products we sell in that region tend to overlap in the UK,” she said.

Carrillo added the vendor will not be looking to partner with any more distributors in the UK.

Andrew Stephen, marketing manager at StarTech.com, said: “The UK is currently a fairly small part of our overall business, but it is the fastest growing market for us.”

Bhavesh Patel, UK commercial director at Ingram Micro, said: “We are very excited to be partnering with StarTech.com. The inclusion of its extensive product range will provide a significant benefit to our customers, especially those in the system builder and VAR communities.

“This is an important alliance and enables Ingram to offer one of the widest choices of products in the channel.”
