Workx goes with distributor Memory Plus

Leading German memory manufacturer Workx AG has given Memory Plus, a subsidiary of Torridon, the exclusive distribution role for its proprietary memory upgrade market.

Memory Plus is a specific memory upgrade distributor, and has specialist knowledge of the subject, said Alex Blackwell, technical marketing manager at Workx AG. "We chose Memory Plus because it has a lot of experience and its goals and ours seem to fit together. It has market experience and wanted close relationships, like we do," he said.

Blackwell did not count out the future appointing of additional memory-specific distributors in the future. Memory Plus will embrace specific memory solutions that are tailored to each PC, while other distributors will deal with differing memory upgrade solutions.

This comes in the wake of the announcement that Workx has opened a new office in the UK in an attempt to broaden its market share. The firm is one of the top 10 memory manufacturers in Europe, despite 95 per cent of its sales coming from Germany.

The memory industry is increasing by up to 48 per cent each year, and Workx is trying to reflect this growth, said Blackwell. "We want to be in the top 10 in the world, not just in Europe," he said. "The US is a market that has to be addressed, but this is a planned, sensible strategy and the US is not our primary thrust."
