Drip, drip of reseller insolvencies continues

VARs Macolytes and Syphan Technologies among the latest to succumb

Nitin Joshi: There is a steady flow of insolvencies at the smaller end of the food chain

Though large VAR casualties have been rare this year, the steady drip of insolvencies at the lower end of the market continues.

Mac reseller Macolytes and high-performance security outfit Syphan Technologies are two of the latest examples to hit the wall in recent weeks.

Experts have predicted that the number of UK insolvencies may spike later this year and Nitin Joshi, founder of ChannelMoney, warned stricken channel firms to act decisively.

“There is a steady flow of insolvencies at the smaller end of the food chain,” he said.

“Channel businesses need to bite the bullet earlier and thereby avoid bigger losses to suppliers, whose goodwill they may well need for any new enterprises being planned.”

Surbiton-based Authorised Apple Service Provider (AASP) Macolytes held its creditors’ meeting last week.

Syphan Technologies, which is based in Skipton in North Yorkshire, has scheduled a creditors’ meeting for 25 June. It claimed to provide high-performance network security solutions.
