Broadband is still a hit
Channel players claim the broadband market is still a hotbed of opportunity, despite UK figures showing nearly nine out of 10 internet connections are via broadband.
The September edition of the Office of National Statistics Internet Connectivity report found that broadband accounted for 88.4 per cent of all connections, up from 86.2 per cent in June. Broadband connections saw a year-on-year increase of 26 per cent.
However, John Carter, managing director at BT broadband distributor DMSL, said: “The emphasis now is on adding more bits and pieces to the broadband connection. For instance, BT has a package offering enhanced support levels for £17 per month.”
Carter added that DMSL was also working with the Chamber of Commerce to offer broadband packages to the 400,000 new businesses that start up in the UK each year.
