Firms left to drift after Synnex buy

OEM manufacturer Mitac Europe and Dynamic Distribution are in disarray after the takeover of the two companies by US distributor Synnex Distribution in April.

A source close to Dynamic said: ?Nobody really knows what is going on, there is a lack of strategic planning and they have no direction. The companies are like headless chickens with no focus and no aim.?

In four weeks? time, Dynamic will change its name to Synnex Distribution and begin to expand its portfolio. The company will use its links with the Taiwanese parent of Mitac to buy from its Chinese partners and exploit a relationship between Synnex and Intel in the US.

A potential OEM deal between Mitac Europe and Hewlett Packard is at risk as sources close to the deal believe the PC vendor was only interested in getting prices from the manufacturer. One source said: ?We are still talking but we are beginning to wonder whether HP is just trying to get pricing [information] out of us.?
