Xylan signs Data Connectivity as first wholesaler

Switching manufacturer Xylan has signed Data Connectivity as its first UK distributor, having previously dealt only with OEM partners and systems integrators.

The two have been in discussions since the end of last year after Xylan decided it needed a partner to push its products into the channel. It chose Data Connectivity because it said its claim of added value was ?not an idle boast, like some of the larger networking distributors?.

Xylan area sales manager Nick Roullier said it was growing 50 per cent quarter on quarter. ?We are at a milestone where we just can?t keep pace with demand for our products. Signing Data Connectivity will enable us to open the floodgates on that demand while still controlling the flow.?

Sales for Xylan worldwide increased by 327 per cent last year, with turnover at $128 million, compared with $30 million for 1995.
