CommVault's channel gaining from changes

Vendor claims it has been able to better support resellers since its Nasdaq flotation

Storage and backup vendor CommVault has claimed its VARs are already reaping the benefits of its recent investment in the channel and flotation on the Nasdaq.

The company recently took on Horizon as its second UK distributor and has put together its first dedicated channel team.

Fiona Moon, EMEA marketing director at CommVault, said: “This quarter we have been able to support the channel with awareness campaigns, lead generation and marketing. We’ve put a lot more resources into the channel.

“We had our initial public offering in September, so we are now being seen as a significant player. We have grown our headcount across EMEA and this allows us to service more customers and build a stronger channel.”

Former UK managing director of Veritas Steven Rose and CA veteran Vince Blackall are among the people CommVault has recently recruited to senior positions in its European arm.

Jason Rabbetts, managing director of VAR StorPoint, which has just started working with CommVault, said: “The biggest change is that CommVault has decided to start working with resellers that are already selling competitors’ products, which it had avoided in the past.”

Mark Walker, director at Horizon’s data management unit, said the distributor’s main task so far had been to take charge of about 30 resellers that previously bought directly from CommVault.

“What we are looking to do now is find new CommVault partners and to introduce CommVault to our existing resellers,” he said.
