Council information project gains Esteem
Reseller wins £300,000 public-sector contract
Reseller Esteem Systems has won a £300,000 contract to centralise Northamptonshire County Council's Library and Information Service and provide professional services.
The project, which aims to provide on-demand library services, will use technology from Microsoft, Citrix and Wyse Technology. Esteem will provide a three-year managed service as well as engineering, installation and training.
David Ogden, sales director at Esteem Systems, said about 50 per cent of the VAR's turnover comes from the public sector, most of it from local government.
"We have invested in the public sector and it has paid dividends as the commercial market slowed down," he said.
Lewis Gee, managing director of Citrix UK, said the vendor attempts to support resellers through direct contact with public sector bodies.
"We work hard to get them to sign up to a framework agreement so they can buy licences as one body and not keep going through the terms," he said.
