BT signs up for digital signage with Dynamax
Audiovisual vendor signs deal with division of BT to sell its flagship product as a managed service
Digital signage vendor Dynamax Technologies has signed a strategic supply agreement with BT Media and Broadcast (BT M&B), a division of BT, to sell its flagship digital signage product as a managed service.
Dynamax’s PointOfView NG is a digital signage content-management software and hardware system that enables users to remotely and automatically target, schedule and distribute content to screens.
Howard Smith, director, head of technology and marketing at Dynamax, told CRN: “This is the first time PointOfView NG has been sold as a managed service. BT had wanted to get into the digital signage market and went out to tender for a content-scheduling system. We were chosen, and now BT is one of our resellers.”
BT’s digital signage customers will have their networks centrally controlled from a dedicated PointOfView NG ‘head-end’ at BT Tower.
John Griffiths, head of corporate media solutions, at BT M&B, said: “We were attracted to PointOfView NG for three reasons. First, it’s user-friendly; second, Dynamax was willing to work with us to develop the software further; and third, it comes with software ready-integrated into dedicated ‘player’ hardware. This meant we could offer customers a plug-and-play solution, and made it preferable to software-based solutions.”
Mike Fisher, senior consultant at analyst Decision Tree Consulting, said: “We will see strong growth this year in the digital signage market, but it needs a leap of faith from clients to invest in it. BT entering the market is good news because digital signage needs big players to push it forward.”
Smith added: “Digital signage is hotting up. In time we may see it being used in education and the public sector. IT resellers have the relevant skills to install such systems, so we are looking to work with more this year.”
