O'Brien leaves AST for Fujitsu

Troubled PC vendor AST suffered another blow when sales director Frank O'Brien quit the company last week.

O'Brien had enjoyed a long-standing career with AST, having been with the company for more than five years. He has left to take up the position of UK sales director at Fujitsu, which he will start on 11 November.

A representative for Fujitsu said: 'We are all very pleased to have someone with Frank's pedigree joining us, especially as we are now getting ready to make real in-roads into the UK.'

AST issued the following statement: 'This was an amicable departure and the Fujitsu job will be a good opportunity for Frank.'

Last month AST CEO Ian Diery quit suddenly amid rumours of differences over strategy with parent company, Korean giant Samsung.

O'Brien was unavailable for comment at the time PC Dealer went to press.
