Symantec Cafe with a Java twist

Symantec Cafe for Windows is not yet another coffee house with an Internet twist. It is the latest visual development environment from Symantec. It is a standalone Java development tool not dependent on Symantec C++, and according to its makers, is the first to include graphics tools.

Symantec also claims that the product's native Java compiler allows builds of Java programs several times faster than Sun's Java Development Kit Compiler.

Mansour Safai, Symantec applications and development tools division general manager, said: 'Symantec Cafe provides cutting-edge Java development tools that are not available anywhere else, including visual design tools, a fast compiler and a fully integrated, visual graphical debugger.' It will be available in the channel from late March for #289 with a limited promotional offer of #129. For those who can't wait, it is available now on the Symantec Web site at www.symantec.com/lit/dev /javaindex.html for a 90-day introductory price of $139.

Symantec C++ users can purchase the product for about #70.
