Relisys Digital shuts up shop

Vendor goes into administration, following in the footsteps of its parent company

Vendor Relisys Digital folded last week, just over a year after the original Relisys entered administration.

Accountancy firm Begbies Traynor has been appointed as administrator.

Relisys Digital emerged last year after the demise of monitor manufacturer Relisys (CRN, 23 January 2006). Relisys Digital rebranded itself as an audiovisual vendor focusing on LCD TVs and Windows-based terminals.

In November Relisys Digital announced a move into the thin-client arena with the launch of a separate business division called Thinspace. According to Thinspace director, Paul Gittens, the demise of Relisys Digital has not affected Thinspace.

“Thinspace is a completely separate legal entity to Relisys Digital so it is business as usual for us,” Gittens said. “We were sorry to hear the news; it is a reflection of the price and margin erosion occurring in that space.”

A source close to the firm believed the majority of Relisys Digital’s staff had been made redundant.

Darren Lewitt, divisional director at distributor Midwich, told CRN: “We’ve been gearing down our Relisys business over the past year. We had a good run with Relisys products, but when it went under last year we decided not to place too much emphasis on the brand.”
