Secure set to reward VAR loyalty

Vendor unveils future product roadmap at annual global partner event

Secure Computing has claimed it is keen to maintain partner loyalty as it continues to integrate its product portfolio after a series of acquisitions.

The security vendor recently held its annual global partner event in Barcelona, where its main priority was to outline its future product roadmap and gather partner feedback.

Atri Chatterjee, senior-vice president, marketing at Secure Computing, said: “Secure has changed quite a bit in the last year and a half. We have gone from a primarily firewall-based business to an identity and access management business with four major product lines.”

“One of our main challenges has been how do we integrate our products and make them valuable to both partners and customers and how do we make the best use of our intellectual property?”

Secure Computing has also launched a domain healthcheck service which it claimed would give partners the chance to bolster their revenue.

Chatterjee said the free service examines a customer’s web site and provides them with a detailed report on the security of the site and possible courses of action.

“We are always looking for new ways to help our partners generate business and this is a great way to help them drive consultancy sales and offer bolt-on products to their customers,” he said.

Duncan Hume, divisional manager, security division at Bell Micro Europe, said the vendor was on the right track.

“Secure Computing has been very acquisitive over the last couple of years and I think the challenge it has faced was trying to show partners how all these products fitted together,” he said. “It has done a good job on that front and it is hard to find a product set that it doesn’t have covered now. Secure has been very careful about the products it has chosen through acquisition it has ensured the acquisitions make sense rather than just making them for the sake of it.”
